The Lunchbox – A phenomenon!

I couldn’t even think what made Ritesh Batra so intellectual that he conceived such colorful characters in ‘The LunchBox’. What was going on in his mind when he was writing the script? ‘Love arises between strangers by food’, it’s so unusual and interesting too. There’s a phrase that ‘a man’s heart is reached by food’. He must have written the script of a movie after keeping this phrase in mind.

This film made me feel so good. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, portraying Shaikh, made me laugh at several occasions. Everytime when he said,”Kaise hai Sir?” to Saajan, he made his presence alive by his exorbitant smile. He was pretty eloquent in the movie. The expression, Saajan gave to Shaikh when the later asked the suitable time to come for learn the trade by the former was so delectable. Saajan played by Irrfan Khan, was such a conservative man but Irrfan Khan has done his job quintessentially. In most of the shots, Saajan has to smile looking at food, letter and of course, lunchbox. Nimrat has done a splendid job of portraying a middle class Indian housewife. Mumbai city was so immaculately depicted alongside the famous dabbawalas.

The love depicted in the epistolary movie has kind of a similar plot of another Bollywood movie ‘Sirf Tum’ but this one has surpassed the latter. Well, I’m not going to lie. I’ve not watched ‘Sirf Tum’. 😀 I am just in awe of this movie. Perhaps that movie would also be good.

‘The Lunchbox’ is one of the finest movies ever made in Indian Cinema. Must watch!

I’m so proud of my decision that I’ve watched this movie in a cinema hall 🙂 at the time of its release and I’ve persuaded my friends also to watch it along with me. Though one of my friends said, “Such movies are to be watched at home”. This is the attitude towards critical cinema in our country. That’s why many critical films don’t become commercial films in India.  I’ve shared my views because I’ve read many Google reviews saying that they’ve watched this movie so late.

Let me leave you with one of my favourite scenes of the movie which stars both of my favourite actors.
