Sindaara – a sweet tradition of sweetmeat

Aha Yum Yum Yummy!!

Sindaara is not a name of any Indian wrestler as per my knowledge. 😀 I told you because it is similar to Dara Singh, a wrestler and an actor who played Lord Hanuman in Ramayana, directed by Ramanand Sagar. Watch Ramayana. You’d cherish it for your life. It

Sindaara is a term used for confectionery in India on an occasion. In Hindu religion/Sanatana Dharma especially in North India, after a marriage of girl, her parents send sindaara every year as an elegant convention with lots of love to her & in-laws. Sindaara includes a confectionery which could include anyone like Jalebi, Imarti, Balushahi, Pethe ki Mithai, Laddoo and Sari as a gift to the girl.  Then sweetmeat is distributed into vicinity of the girl’s in-laws. In Hindi language it is defined as “ladki ke sasural me mayka se bheji gayi

mithai.” Only hindi native can understand this definition. It is brought only in the fifth month of the calendar, Saawan (the rainy season). For me, it’s just a sweetmeat brought by neighbour aunty on my door in the showering July of every year. And yes, they don’t charge for it – it’s free of cost.
